Job back in China

I come from China and joined MESPOM after graduating from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan. At MESPOM I followed the "Preventive Environmental Strategies" track at Lund University. Finishing MESPOM was an accomplishment in life. Toward the end of the program, I received a job offer from a small UK carbon trading company with an office in Shanghai. My boss from Australia has great attitude and convinced me to come back to China although my original plan was to stay in Europe. |
Coming back to China was a big decision, for both myself and my boyfriend (who is from the USA and whom I met while studying MESPOM at CEU). Now, I'm kind of glad that we made the decision together and gave it a try.
Like other carbon trading companies, we buy carbon credits from projects in China and sell them on the European market. My company is specialized in the voluntary market, which is closely linked to corporate social and environmental responsibility. Our clients include some of the very big companies and banks (please see website: www.climatebridge.com for more details). We have a very strict internal screening procedure to choose proper projects. Unlike some big carbon trading companies, we only choose projects that are both socially and environmentally sound. My other boss, who's based in London and Oxford, is the youngest professor at Oxford University. He's a great person and EXTREMELY good looking!
In short, my life in Shanghai is not bad despite my busy job... I've been doing business development these days which requires a lot of traveling and meeting. Other than this, I quite enjoy my life in the French Concession with wine and great food.
