CEU TOEFL Test for Applicants

This is a clarification of the possibility for MESPOM applicants to take a free TOEFL test administered by Central European University in certain countries. This test takes place after the recommendations for Erasmus Mundus scholarships have to be submitted to the European Commission.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships for 2008-2010

For 2008-2010, the European Commission will provide not only general Erasmus Mundus scholarships - available to students from all third-countries - but also additional scholarships for nationals of West Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. We strongly encourage eligible candidates from these countries to apply to MESPOM.

E-mail address for receiving electronic application documents

MESPOM applicants are encouraged to submit key application documents by e-mail by posting them to admissions@mespom.eu. Submission by e-mail will make it easier for the MESPOM Consortium to process your applications. However, such submission is purely voluntary and does not replace filling in the on-line application form and providing all required documents as explained in the application guidelines. Please do not send any inquiries to this email address.

Nobel Peace Prize and MESPOM

The Nobel Peace Prize of 2007 has been awarded to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change".

Recent update of the Website

This website has recently been significantly updated, especially concerning admissions, the study programme (including theses), student profiles, career prospects, gallery as well as some other sections. More updates are coming soon.

MESPOM-CEU e-learning platform

The CEU Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy and MESPOM have established a joint e-learning platform using the Moodle course management system. Its support to MESPOM courses ranges from posting handouts and readers for traditional face-to-face lectures to more complicated distance-learning exercises which may be increasingly important in MESPOM (where faculty from one partner university often teaches at another).

MESPOM Graduation 2007

The first MESPOM students graduated. The journey which started in September 2005 in Budapest has come to an end 20 months later. Read more about graduation, see graduation pictures taken by students or log on to the site and read a student's graduation speech.

MESPOM theses of 2007

The first MESPOM students (2005-2007) have submitted their Masters theses. Read about experiences of writing a thesis on biofuels production in Southeast Asia (part 1 and part 2) or about a thesis on bioremediation done in a UK laboratory.

Mespom.org linked to mespom.eu

A good website is always under construction and so it is with www.mespom.eu. But at least now it is up and running and we could sunset the old site at www.mespom.org linking the URL right here. Many thanks for all those who helped, especially Mischa, Sachin, Julia and Emma as well as the wonderful IIIEE network contributing with their "environmental car" story!

MESPOM receives an Erasmus Mundus Action 3 grant

The MESPOM Consortium has received an Erasmus Mundus Action 3 grant from the European Commission.

The grant includes mobility support for students from the EU to conduct their thesis research (in Semester 4) in our partner institutions outside Europe. The MESPOM faculty will also be able to teach at the partner universities of the ENVironmental Research and Education Alliance (ENVERA) which include:
