My name is Anton Shkaruba, I will soon start helping with the day-to-day management of MESPOM and other research activities at CEU. I have a degree in geography (from Belarus State University in Minsk) with specialisation on terrestrial hydrology and aquatic ecology. My Master of Science degree is from the University of Lund (International Environmental Science), and in addition I have completed the post-graduate European course in environmental management and policy (EPCEM) run by a consortium of Dutch universities.

At the moment I am completing a PhD program at the Central Research Institute for Integrated Use of Water Resources in Minsk. My doctoral research has been focused on geo-environmental assessment of carbon cycles in urbanised ecosystem, which also involved a one-year stay at the Department of Land- and Water Resources Engineering of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. I hope to obtain the degree in the next few of months.

During my studies and research work I’ve managed to get involved in nearly every kind of environmental studies, which, I believe, will help me to get oriented in MESPOM affairs and be successful in my research on Earth system governance and ecosystem vulnerability to global environmental change.
