Don't Bet your Gas On It (update to the Environmental Car Story received from the Pacific Institute)

An automotive marketing company made a startling claim in a study released earlier this year: the Hummer H3 and other SUVs have a lower life-cycle energy cost than the Toyota Prius and other hybrids. This analysis raised some eyebrows at the Pacific Institute, and we decided to take a look at the science behind this surprising finding.

Carl Sagan once said "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof." The Institute's closer analysis suggests that the report's conclusions lack such proof, and instead contains dubious science and analysis.
